Catch Me If You Can

I seem to spend a lot of time on my sister's side deck. I really like listening to all the birds, the wind whispering through the trees and, at times, just the silence. It is never silent on the island.

The property sits in what was once a thriving apple orchard but has now mostly been leveled for development. It is still ringed with old apple trees though, which attracts a myriad of wild life.

Do you see what I see?

As it jumps around, I think you can identify it.

Great cardinal photos. I was driving in the driveway yesterday & spotted one, but it took off into the trees before I could snap a photo!

It is a male Cardinal. My favorite bird by the way. And one which I see regularly being held in cages here in Merida, much to my dismay, and a practice that is illegal by the way. Gads, where did that rant come from??

I love it when I hear the cardinals in my yard. They have several different songs and chirps and I recognize all of them. We had one for a couple years who sang the coolest song, nothing like any other cardinal. But I think a cat might have gotten him, and I've never heard that song again. They are so bright and cheery.
