Strolling along the Playa Posada malecon the other day I noticed this new business set up.
Curious what they charge?
This island is becoming more like Playa del Carmen every day.

WE LEFT THE RAT RACE EIGHT YEARS AGO AND RETIRED TO THIS LITTLE ISLAND IN THE CARIBBEAN. THIS IS MY ACCOUNT OF THE TRIALS, TRIBULATIONS, AND LITTLE JOYS OF LIVING IN MEXICO.

Is that a deep tissue massage or just a deep wallet one?
calypso: hahahaha! I fear the latter!
does that include a "happy ending"?
Lisa had a massage there just after Christmas. The women walk the beach trying to find customers. Lisa said that it was a very good massage. I think they charge $50 US
Reminds me of a mall we visited down in Tucson. They were doing massages in the front window. No thanks!
Oh, it does say $50 US for 1 hour on the sign.
I could sure use that right now! 50 US for one hour is cheap!
Ah, Wayne. The market simply ends up setting itself where buyers will buy and sellers will sell. I, on the other hand, have a solid rule: I do not pay people to touch me -- no matter what the price.
anonymous: I think your comment just gave away your identity.
jackie: whether or not it is good is not the question. the problem to me is that they are even there.
LAB: I agree. Shouldn't it be a more private thing?
kw: I checked with a licensed in the USA masseuse here. She charges $65 an hour. I doubt that the beach people are licensed or trained. I would be afraid that they would inadvertently hurt me.
steve: oh, the responses I could make! And you know it and that's why you did the double meaning. I will just solidly bite my tongue until it bleeds!
Oh wow - I'd have to say that is pricey, IMO. In Canada I could get a massage from someone who was atleast registered, and I'd pay $60/hr. Then submit my forms to my employer and be reimbursed 80%. That seems expensive???
Far more expensive than Mazatlán! I would love to have a massage for this Valentine's Day! Guess I'd better hint broadly to Jaime.
The hardworking Mexican labourers who are building the nearby Aluxes Condo project probably have to work all week to get $50!
I’m with you Wayne. Since the masseuses are there and aren’t going away they might as well be good. Actually there have been other masseuses on the beach for years. Marcella used to have a table set up next to Nautibeach. She may not have had a sign advertising but she trolled the beach looking for customers.
From a friend this morning in an email -
"Lots of speculation that all the water problems are due to that new montrosity across from Jax filling up their giant swimming pool over the past few days. I hear people are moving in there this week already.
You will puke when you see what it has become and how it has fucked up access to Sergio's, Nautibeach, etc."
on mexican time: i think it is pricey, but what do I know?
kate: good luck!
anonymous: I don't know what the craft people are being paid, but the imported labores are making 45 pesos per day. At yesterdays exchange rate, that is $3.14 USD. Not quite enough to afford a massage. What must these hard working people think of us!
jackie: i have lately seen them by the Swing Bar too. All lined up with their tables just like in Playa. Yuk. Your friend aptly summed it up. Friday night most of the bars downtown had no water! I fear these condos will be the death of the island.
You can get a very good one hour (non beach) massage here in Playa for $30 usd. Not sure I would want one on the beach with all the sand getting blown into the massage oils. Ouch!!
