Filming a Video on Isla Mujeres

Last Friday night I went downtown to meet up with the visitors here from Tampa, Loretta and Michael. This was the night they had been told they could sit in with the band. I was really looking forward to this, but it was not to be.

Instead we were treated to the blinding lights and shenanigans of a film crew at Fayne's working on some kind of tourism video. It will probably end up being one of those MTV type videos where they only use about three seconds worth of tape all spliced together.

I was thrilled to see that they were filming FB. (film at bottom, hold your horses!) Unfortunately, I don't think it was one of his better performances, but still good. I only filmed him again because finally he is performing somewhere where there is enough light to see him. Below are the drummers being filmed before he started. He's standing in between them, getting himself psyched up I guess.

Here's a pretty good look at the light they had going. It was blinding from where we were sitting. And please, don't ask me to move to another table!

Now the filming has turned to Javier and his house band, The Band With No Name. We aren't quite as descriptive with our band names here as they are in Playa del Carmen!

I like Javier, but, man, was he hamming it up for the cameras. His 15 minutes of being a rock star fame. If you attended the Blogger Blowout, you'll recognize that he is upstairs where we had the meet and greet.

At one point during the conversation, Loretta mentioned how much she had liked the Shattered Faces post that I had done. She asked if I would take the same kind of picture of her. Sure! No problem. I warned her that she would have to sit or kneel on the hard cement floor though. You have to get really low for me to see your face reflected. I couldn't decide which one I liked best. Usually there is a stand out. Here are the best ones. You decide which one you like best.

And one of BF Michael too!

The glare on the right hand side of this picture is that bright light again. That's Alex on the bar with Javier, pretending to play the guitar. I really included this picture for one reason. See that couple at the bar? Actually all the people sitting at the bar. They are actors, hired to pretend to be having a good time. I don't think they were pretending though!

Here's the obligatory picture of me, Loretta and Michael. They sure were a happy couple and a joy to be around. I learned so much from them about what it is like to be in a band and to organize everything. Lot of work just to keep the masses entertained! They say they will be back and I believe them. Hope it is sooner rather than later.

Now, as promised, the well lit videos of FB. If you don't want to watch him again so soon, I will understand. But you can really finally see him here.

Well, Wayne. You really know how to build anticipation. I think YouTube is selling fb videos on the side.

I look forward to seeing the re-linked videos. You can never have enough fire and body contortions in life.

Everything is working well, again. Wow! That will be some video -- wherever it shows. Maybe this will be The Break.

I like #3 too. What better pose for a blues singer than on the hands and knees, shattered?!? If I use it on the demo, I'll credit you, Wayne...
