Our local paper, Por Esto, had an interesting article yesterday. They were complaining that only 245 people had renewed their license plates so far this year. Even though there is a 30% discount if you do it this month. They went on to give a list of all the registered vehicles on the island. I was shocked. As you read these numbers, remember this island is only 1/2 mile wide by 5 miles long. No wonder I sometimes complain about the traffic!
1258............cars
431............light trucks/pick-ups
99............public trucks
432...........taxis
15..........tows (trailers that need licensing)
453..........golf carts
153..........rental scooters
2351..........private scooters
Good thing they are not all on the road at the same time. Even though it feels like it sometimes!
Speaking of numbers, yesterday I was figuring out the number of people that have RSVP'd for the Blogger Meeting. So far we are expecting 20 people! I'm impressed. Any more?

Of course you realize those numbers include the portion of Isla Mujeres on the mainland. They actually have more taxis there than on the island.
Anon: I had indeed forgotten about the mainland portion of IM. Why not leave your name next time you comment?
