What next!

D arrived safely from CT yesterday. He was supposed to be here at 12:45. We got a call at 3:30 that he was landed and had just cleared customs and irritation....er, immigration. His plane was over 2 hours late. He finally got here a little after 5pm!

We visited a bit and messed around with B's new computer and then got ready and went downtown. We had Happy Hour drinks at Don Chepo's (2 for the price of one. The price of one is 38 pesos though! Still, that makes it $1.90USD per beer. Not bad.) Then we headed up the street for a nice meal at Seso Loco's. Of course, this was followed by another drink at La Adelita's. D was understandably tired, so we headed back for the car.

As usual, I got in and reached over to unlock the passenger side doors. B tried to open the front door and it would only open about 1/2 inch! It was then that he noticed that somebody had smashed into the car!

We were legally parallel parked on the street. On the other side of the street is a big parking lot for some sort of Rehab office. Public parking is not allowed. Somebody must have backed out of there really fast and not turned sharply enough. They smashed into the front quarter panel and did quite a job on it. It pushed part of it under the front door, thus pinning it shut.

So guess what I get to do today? Yup. I get to see if the insurance I have been paying for for the last four years is really any good. I am so dreading dealing with an insurance claim here. I have heard such horror stories of trying to collect on a claim.

I will keep you posted and pictures of the damage later.

So sorry to hear about your car. I can just imagine what a hassle this will be to get cleared up. Have a nice visit with your company from NOB.
