On the road

After three days of hard driving, we arrived in Oaxaca yesterday afternoon. Love this city! It is so clean and friendly. Traffic actually stops to let pedestrians cross the street! Yesterday we toured the church, Santa Domingo and the cultural museum. today we went to monte alban and then the markets. What an experience. I have lots of pics to post but they will have to wait until I get home.

We passed through 6 states to get here and 5 military checkpoints. We were pulled over and inspected at each one! Must be something about three white guys travelling together that raises their curiousity. It is a pain in the butt to have to pull everything out of the car and have them go through your stuff and ask questions about everything. I really wasn´t aware of how many drugs-medications we have with us until I had to start explaining what each one was for.

Tomorrow we are off on an all day tour of highlights around here. Busy, busy!

Big news in Mexico right now is the heat wave. You can imagine how hot it is if the weather makes the news! People are dying from the heat in Campeche state. I can tell you, it is extraordinarily hot right now. It didn´t help during the drive that most of Campeche state and Tabasco state are burning the sugar cane fields right now. In places the flames are licking the side of the road and you can feel the heat of the fire as you drive by.

Next stop, probably Thursday, will be Tasco. Silver shopping! Take care!
