Tax Day

There are many reasons why we love living here in Mexico. Utilities, like water and electricity cost virtually nothing. Not to mention we never have a heating bill! Property taxes are another reason.

The island offers a discount to people who can afford to pay their property taxes for the next year all in one lump sum, rather than in installments. We always do this. Plus, if you pay during the month of December, you get a 25% discount.

We own two properties, right next door to each other, so we have to pay taxes on both of them, of course. B went to City Hall today and paid the taxes for 2007. For the whole year he paid (in dollars) $65.16 on one and $43.23 for the other.

Life is good.
