Street Wear?

I've posted pics like this before.  Always to mixed reviews.   These people were casually walking down the main street on the island, doing some souvenir shopping.

My question to you:  Is this appropriate street wear or not?  And why?  These people are at least 5 blocks from the beach and in the middle of the downtown section.

I was brought up in an era where you wore a hat & gloves to go out shopping, so no I don't think it's appropriate. At least put on a tank top or tshirt!

Hate to sound like an old bag, but I don't think so! I'm guessing he's trying to get his white chest to match his lobster neck. I give them credit for the flip flops. We notice a lot of tourists now wandering around barefoot on Third World streets. I see women on Hidalgo at night in sundresses with no shoes. Infections, worms -- they're clueless.

PUT A COVER-UP ON! I have never walked around like that at any beach destination. Have some respect for other people!

IMO, no! Doesn't take much effort to put on a t-shirt or a cover up. I don't think it's just because I'm 50something either. Just not right!!

Hmmm...well, its not morally wrong, harmful to health, or causing serious harm or injury to others just not something most people would choose to do..however, I choose to live and let live, accept it as it is (unless it is hurtful to me or someone else. Should I feel it really inappropriate, rather than judge, I simply say "oh well" and walk away - too much ugliness in the world to be concerned with someones poor clothing choice (or lack thereof). Just my opinion

Maybe they just finished a snorkel trip and are headed back from the marina? This happened to me when my husband took the bag and I stayed to pay. I was a little embarassed to strut down Hidalgo in my suit but was thankful no one judged me. I wouldn't have done it on purpose, though.
