I think they actually did a great job on it. It is very impressive and elegant looking.
That painted stone archway in the background is the actually entrance into the grounds.
The shapes, shadows and lines of this structure I found quite pleasing to the eye.
What I don't understand is the why of it. There are no benches for people to sit and just enjoy this structure. It is covering nothing but a concrete slab. I think maybe it is just an attention getter. Trying to get more tourists to stop here.
And why should they stop here?
To buy even more souvenir stuff at these yet to be occupied stalls is my guess.

Hopefully, down the line they will put in beches or something like that. It is an interesting looking structure!
Agreed - the lines are very appealing and I also think it is funny that intention is not clear ...
Eye catching .. maybe the benches are coming.
They must have figured out that sitting people are not buying anything but walking people are.....
yes - probably seats to follow. Looks interesting and well done.
It's unique ... and eye-provoking .... I thinks it's a great move to the 21st century, and and improvement to the crap that was there.
Robert Approves.
O Robert
I loved the old look. The small shops out front. I am sure I will love the new though too. Some benches would be nice. Maybe a little daytime music in the shade? Some guitar or singing? Or how about some dancing? Such a great space not to be utilized.
this is very antipodean, not maya or yucatecan at all
Aloha
