Ten Days Later

Ten days after the work has begun on Matamoras. This is a major east-west road through the downtown area. They have succeeded in now tearing up all 5 blocks of it.

What bothers me is that this is the second time they have torn up the street. Why can't they get it right the first time.

And it is not just this street. Almost every street in the downtown area has been totally torn up at least twice now. In an effort to improve them.

I feel sorry for the tourists who have to try to negotiate these streets. I feel sorry for the motorists who have to go blocks out of their way to try to find a way around downtown. But mostly, I feel sorry for the businesses that can't take delivery of supplies while this is going on and who certainly are loosing a lot of valuable business and income.

The rule of thumb where I live, if you are putting in sewer or gas lines in town, be sure to pave the streets first.

Welcome back! Missed ya'. Is it that they have nothing else to keep them busy? So why not tear up the streets! (again)

Unbelievable! Feel bad for all the businesses--that's the street we use to get most anywhere! Hope they finish up soon!

Has it been two years since all this started? If the problem is drainage -- good luck.

We tried twice in the last week to go to Bobo's (they have been handing out flyers in the colonias and are giving discounts to locals). But Bobo's is always closed, maybe because nobody is going down the street? A.and yes, just trying to walk down the street to get there is difficult with the mounds of sand.

They hadn't done this street yet. I know they have paved and repaved one or two of the streets, but there were at least 2 or 3 side streets that hadn't gotten done yet. After this one they need to do the one closest to playa norte that goes past aluxes!

Walking down a torn up street is a difficult task for me. I have a hard enough time negotiating the giant curbs.

That has got to be a pain right in the rear!

I agree with Norm...Same thing just happened on my street...Was a mess for years and then finally was perfectly repaved just last Fall...and now some gas-line rerouting has left us with a patchwork of sloppy ruts.

I believe that the other "anonymous" has his streets confused??
