A New Coat Of Paint

This is the Hotel Caracol. It is located on Avenue Matamoras, next door to Aluxes Coffee Shop.

They recently gave it a new coat of paint and really spiffed up the outside. Although this pink would be soooooo out of place NOB, it works down here. I like it.

Notice, too, that it is for sale by owner. Maybe that explains the new coat of paint.

The nightclub next door, Nitrox, has also recently gotten a new facelift. What is so interesting about it is that those white box arches you see are done with wallboard, not cement! Really unusual down here. By the way, I am not endorsing that night club at all. It is a dangerous place for tourists and I would advise you stay to away from it. There is at least one knock down, drag out, bloody fight there per week.

Oh, by the way, this post is my 1000th since I started this blog. Who knew I had so much to say!

Got to agree with Carl. Pity those poor tourist who stay at Hotel Caracol not realizing it is next to a nightclub blasting until the wee morning hours.

wow-that reminds me of pepto bismol-but i know what you mean by it working down there. that's a great shot with the blue sky and wisps of clouds.

congrats on your 1,000th post! i've enjoyed reading your blog for several years now. it was discovering andee's blog when i was looking for info on chacala that got me hooked on blog reading. hard to believe she's been gone over 2 1/2 years.

i read the rest of the comments on your previous post and got a good laugh out of the suggestion about getting geese. sounds like it just might work, but i would still prefer a dog. yes, those little ones do bark a lot but as a guard dog you might want something at least mid sized.(sounds like i'm describing a car ;-) then again, just the annoying bark of those little ones might keep some away-maybe a chihuahua. i know one of the reasons you haven't gotten a dog is because you like to travel, but perhaps you can get a good friend to stay at your place while you're gone.

glad to see you got out to the coffee shop. too bad there was no one around. before you know it, the place will be full of snowbirds. i myself will be a rainbird, since we live in the seattle area but that won't be for 6 more years. would love to check out adelita's since that is my middle name.

have a good day wayne.

Ok, before everybody jumps on the nightclub noise issue. I am not a fan of Nitrox, in fact I would like to see it closed down, but I have to say that it does not contribute to noise pollution downtown. That place is very well sound proofed. Only directly in front of their entrance can you hear anything. In fact, the band at Fayne's contributes more noise to downtown than anybody else.
