On The Fly

Now here's something I haven't done in a long while. Compose a post on the fly the same day I post it. I wonder how that happened?

Normally I spend Sunday afternoons putting together my five posts for the week. All neat and tidy, ready to go at 6:05 AM every morning. But yesterday, after mowing the lawn next door in preparation for the arrival of guests there today, we decided to get cleaned up and go downtown.

We started out at Brisas Grill, which has a happy hour all afternoon. We were disappointed that the band was not playing and that we were the only guests. We shared a delicious shrimp ceviche and then were unexpectedly joined by a couple of friends.

That led to moving to the local bar next door. Just a tiny street side affair that does not draw tourists. They do serve a mean bowl of Chilichole though. (not sure if that is the correct spelling) You have to order a beer or beverage to get it though. Much like a botanas bar. So, just for good measure, I had two! While sitting there, another friend passed by and joined us. This place also does ribs on a charcoal burner placed on the sidewalk out front. Ok then, let's have a couple of orders of ribs too!

From there we decided to go down to Playa Sol and watch the sunset. They have 2 x 1 also. The sunset was disappointing but the beer was cold! And the conversations rapid and entertaining. Sergio was not serving food so we decided to head back downtown and get fish fingers at Bamboo.

While there, we hooked up with a couple of more friends and it really turned into party central! It was really hot in there though so after awhile we decided to saddle up and walk down the street to Adelita's. By now the band was playing at Fayne's and everyone was in a silly, happy-go-lucky mood. Even Fireboy was there to perform. We had a round a drinks there and then everybody decided it was probably time to put a cap on it and head for home. I was quite pleased with myself for having contributed so much to the local economy!

So now you know why I have no posts ready for the week, am composing on the fly and, most importantly, have a killer headache this morning!

That's the way it goes around Mazatlán sometimes, too. Fun but afterwards I always comment how it feels like high school or college - running in to people, going here or there as a group, all spur of the moment. Maybe that's what retirement is...college without the school?

Good luck with the headache!

I can't wait to get to Isla.
Looking forward to the friendly people and good food.
I may even end up with one of those "killer headaches" myself!
See you soon.

Wow, Mr. Organized, lol! I don't think I've ever written a post in advance, I'll have to give it a shot (though it sounds rather against my character, "organized" is not an adjective often used to describe me). Sounds like a fab afternoon!

It could be noted that "on the fly" is more "really you' anyway ....

Works so far .... go with it ...

On the fly sounds pretty good to me! Seize the day! (And take some Tylenol.)

Hey, nothing wrong with this "on the fly" post. Sounds like a very entertaining Sunday!

I'm just dumbfounded that it is possible to write all your blog posts for the week on one day - much less that I actually know someone who does it! Damn! You are one very organized dude. I'm impressed.

Nancy: great comparison!

Doug: to get a "killer headache" you first have to keep up with us!

Mimi: glad you liked it!

CC: what?! you have one of the most organized blog I know! You always do your research and site your sources. Now that's a lot of work!

O Robert: yeah, I guess the "on the fly" posts are really more about my life on the island than just pretty pictures day after day.

LAB: good advice all around!

KMich: it was a very entertaining day and one that I desperately needed to have!

Jonna: how much work is it really to post some pictures and add a comment or two? A monkey could do it.

And it was really kind of you to spread your contribution around to several businesses even though you suffered for it today.

Plenty of school in retirement - the campus is just bigger ;-)

Party on Amigo!

anonymous: no, that is a drink. What I am talking about is a seafood soup with a brown or red broth and usually very, very spicy.

jackie: haha! That was exactly the reason we gave for changing locales so often!

Calypso: you are so right! Except I seem to keep taking the same class over and over!

Writing bogs in advance? I never even thought of that - instead of writing on the fly, I think I write by the seat of my pants, ha. It's just whatever pops into my head when I sit down.
No wonder your blogs are so much more professional then mine....keep on keepin' on my friend.........
