Heading Home

Things are pretty much under control here in Michigan. It has been a horrible yet fun week. We have been spending most days and every night here at my Mom's apartment, going through her things. There have been many "I remember that!" and many stories to go along with most things we touch. Sweet, sort of.

I drew a lot of comfort this week from one of my Commenters who said that I should think of getting rid of her things as spreading little pieces of her to the world. Thank you Debi for that.

The rest of what needs to be done can and will be handled by my siblings. My time here is quickly drawing to a close. I will be heading back to my island on Saturday, with a much greater appreciation for my life there.

I hope to be back here on Monday and pick up where we left off.

Debi's comment really is a great way of looking at it. I also remember a declutter-your-house tv show host telling someone who was unable to part with family things that "the thing isn't your mother." I thought of that a lot when we were getting ready to move...I have so many memories, I don't need every little item that was once hers.

It is really hard to lose your parents, it will hit you when you least expect it...but I'm happy you have siblings, and know that it will be good to be home.

Take care, amigo.

The 'cleaning out' brings back a lot of memories -- but it's a lot of work. Have a safe trip back! There's no place like home -- click click! Soon you'll be home!

You've been in my thoughts a lot amigo. Sally (my mom) has been following your blog since meeting you. She doesn't know how to leave a comment so I want to let you know that she sends her heartfelt sympathy too. I hope that soon the ache of losing your mom is replaced with all the loving memories of her.

I, too, have been thinking of you. Isla is a healing place for me and I hope it will be for you also.

Gear up for loud and dirty politicking, a new invasores community led by Paulino that is under orders to leave the property in 15 days, and folks jockey for party power.=. Most assume the order to vacate is for within 15 days of their arrival. We shall see. It was widely seen as a move to destabilize Alicia. The order to vacate came from Cancun, where the property owner lives and will be enforced by a squad from Cancun if necessary. It's a squad that uses gas, shields and clubs. Welome home.

Welcome home and take some time for yourself now for a few well deserved days.

Wayne, I like the idea of "spreading little pieces of her around the world." I heard that on some TV program before, and it's a good thought. It's hard to let go, but you just CAN'T keep everything.
