Lighting The Corners Of My Mind

Looking back on 2008.

Some Things That Made Me Happy:

Hosting the 1st Annual Blogger Meeting
Having L home so much this year.
Friends once again returning to the island to visit.
Returning to Minnesconsin to visit.
Obama winning and giving us hope again.
Standing in Loretta's driveway eating fresh hand picked tomatoes with a salt shaker in hand.
No hurricanes of any significance.
Meeting Billie.
Putting together Project Warm Hearts.
Getting to know Donald and Carol so much better.

Some Things That Made Me Sad:

My brother.
Construction on the road in front of my house.
My neighbor cutting into my sewer line.
That Iraq is still allowed to hang homosexuals, even teenage ones.

That there were no Girl Scout cookies in my freezer.
The untimely passing of Andee Carlson and her My Life in Chacala.
That nobody here, me included, did an altar to honor our friend, Dylan, for Day of the Dead.

*********

All in all it must have been a pretty good year. More things made me happy than sad. Let's hope 2009 is the same or better!
Wishing all of you a happy 2009 filled with joyous times, good friends and excellent adventures!

If I had a regret list, the continued presidency of Robert Mugabe would be at the top.

Now we know what to bring Wayne! (But my husband and I have the unfortunate habit of eating any Girl Scout cookie that walks into our house.) Happy 2009 Wayne! I'm hoping the U.S. makes some quick strides in 2009 and turns this train around!

jamqueen: who doesn't love Thin Mints!

canuck: right back at ya!

steve: good point.

life's a beach: what a sweet offer! no pun intended. This year I am trying not to accept personal items or request personal items from people visiting the island. All I want is yarn, yarn, yarn so I can continue pumping out the hats for my charity.

my way: I have been told I am a special (needs) person many times before! Best to you up there in the frozen north!

Best of wishes to you in 2009. I will be leaving tomorrow afternnon (Sunday) on the 4:30 ferry. (Sad face). But, I will be back in February to pick up Biggy B, who is staying here on Isla.

Wayne - those pics from Iraq just broke my heart. How sad, I really had no idea. One of my best male friends is gay, I can't imagine how these pictures would make him feel (he may already be aware). Thanks for enlightening me. I hope one day this horrible practice will stop.
