At first I thought it was a rainbow. But the more I looked the more I realized it wasn't. It was really weird. It looked like a shiny oil slick in the sky. I have no idea what it really was.
I'm working on a post with updated pictures of North Beach for you diehard beach fans. And some exciting news too! Weather lately has been anything but paradisical. (I think I just made up another new word!) Rain, torrents of rain. We are gradually moving away from rainy season into windy season. More on that later.
Oh, if anybody knows what that oil slick really is, please let me know. I'm thinking aliens myself.

I don't know what that is but there must be something with the sky down there. When I was there in May, and a bunch of people were hanging out at the pool at Plaza Almendros, we all noticed this big dark circle around the sun...really weird. Nice cloud pics, by the way.
Looks like some kind of a Northern Lights effect - very cool shot.
Wayne, you send me on the most interesting Googling tangents! I think the "oil slick" phenomenon you saw was called a "glory" (no religious reference intended). Check out this British website @http://www.atoptics.co.uk/light.htm

An interesing sight in the sky--it does look like an oil slick!
Exciting news ! OH can't wait to hear, but most important the beach pics .. really can't wait to see the beach! I vote for aliens in the sky.
I don’t know what that is I n the sky but those are cool photos of the clouds.
I think that's what happens when alien ship dump their waste products. It's just a version of those big blue ice chunks our planes dump.

The last "anonymous" had it ... just make the end of the address "html".

Wow - Cool - If you didn't have the photo I would have suggested one too many margaritas! I looked up the links above, thanks! Aliens would have been more fun though. Can't wait for the beach photos!
Very interesting. The sky provdes some of the most glorious pictures.
Lots of good reading on your blog site, Gringo.
