Dog Washing Extravaganza

After a quick breakfast Saturday morning, we headed back to our home away from home in order to enjoy some time in the pool before Heather arrived to pick us up for our next adventure. The shared pool/garden area was stunning.

As promised, here's me enjoying the non-shark infested pool. No fish poop either.

Here's something you have never seen before on this blog.....a picture of the mythical L!!!

Well, I never said it would be a good one. I caught him blowing bubbles just before he surfaced.

At the appointed time, we were out on the street waiting for Heather to appear. Promptly at 1 PM we spotted her coming our way.

We arrived at Peanut Pet Shelter to find no shortage of volunteers there to help with the weekly washing/socializing of the dogs.

If we both look all sad, can I keep him? (Guess what the resounding answer was!!)

This organization does a wonderful job of rescuing and re-homing these dogs. This one was rescued from the local animal shelter, evidently moments before it was to receive it's lethal injection.

Clean, but tired.

Here's one that came pretty close to coming home with us. The big drawback was the hair. While we love the wiry hair of terriers, we just could not imagine taking him to the beach and then trying to get that sand that sticks to everything off of him.

Another shot of him. I just can't believe how well these dogs all get along with each other.

The founders, hearts and brains behind the Peanut Pet Shelter. Andy and his wife, whom, unfortunately, I can't remember her name! How stupid of me.

The other one of two that almost made it to our car. Meet Luna. One of the loveiest dogs there. What a sweetheart she is. I still get all mushy just looking at this picture of her sweet loveableness.

We had to reject her for just the reason somebody else would love her. She has never been known to bark! We need a dog that will bark every time somebody approached our house. Even though, we have been told, there is no CRIME ON ISLA MUJERES! (let the monitors find that entry!) Hard to resist that face, don't you think?

What could be cuter than a box of puppies?

How about two boxes of puppies!

Even the puppies get bathed and handled.

And now, about 6 seconds of pure puppy joy.

Do I look like I was having a good time, or what!

What a wonderful day....puppy hugs and kisses. I don't know how you do it without bringing a few home. Luna looks like such a lover. Maybe a new couch potato companion? Thanks for sharing Wayne.

Wayne,
What a kind and giving thing for you all to do. It amazes me how all of those dogs just seem to get along. Too bad people can’t be the same way. Who couldn’t love those puppies! Precious little puppies.

Soooooo sweet! Love the video and Wayne, I think that last picture of you may be the finest photo I have seen of your handsome mug!

That photo of you is hot. Period.

BTW, Andy wanted me to let you know that Mimi (who is a girl, not a boy) is available again for adoption, having been abandoned now twice in her life (once on the street, once by the person who adopted her, then took off to the US never to be heard from again). She's the wiry one you so loved. She needs you.

islaholic: never thought of it as a couch potato companion! Nice thought.

jackie: we are by far not the kind and giving ones. The owners of the shelter should get all of the credit.

kw: we would love to have a dog but it is a long time commitment and we don't want to rush into it. Timing is not right just now anyway.

brenda: it is a blast. nice people and all the doggie time you want!

lisa: those puppies in a box were only 4 weeks old. Too young to be separated from momma just yet. Yeah, who can resist L!

cc: flattery will get you everywhere!

I love them all, I am such a sucker for a pooch. Hard not to have a dog now after having had them for so many years; but as you say the time is just not right.
