Day of the Gringo

I saw another of the posters our mayor is famous for the other day. This one is advertising the upcoming Dia del Adulto Mayor. In English, Senior Citizen Day. This mayor of ours is crazy for designating special days. We have Mother's Day, Father's Day, Day of the Worker, Day of the Government Employee, Day of the Medicals, Day of the Children, you get the picture.

I was joking with a Mexican friend of ours last night about all of these special days. He agreed it was getting out of hand and wondered when was Day of the Waiter. I joined right in and asked when was Day of the Gringo!

He didn't bat an eye, just looked right at me and said "Everyday!"

Gave me pause to think.
