Merida Cathedral

I love this building. Despite how it was built.

It was started by the Spaniards in 1561 and completed in 1598. It utililized hundreds of Mayan workers. And hundreds of stones pilfered from the Mayan sites by the Spaniards when they destroyed them.

The front door is a spectacle in itself.

Even at night, it commands attention.
