Something To Think About

Here it is the almost the end of January and not one blogger has stepped forward to announce plans for the Third Annual Latin American Bloggers Meeting.

As you will recall, I hosted the first one here on Isla Mujeres. Last year it was held in Mexico and hosted by Teresa, Jonna and Mimi and Lin. It far surpassed the first one in quality and events.

As I and the ladies from Merida can tell you, it is a lot of work but also a lot of fun. Seeing blogger friends and getting to meet in person people that you only know by their blogs is simply awesome. I have met some great people and made some fantastic friends through these meetings.

So, Latin American Bloggers, time to start thinking about whether your city would be a great place to meet and if you think you can help organize it. It is usually held the third weekend of April. Time is flying and people need to make plans.

Are you listening bloggers from San Miquel de Allende and Mazatlan????

I don’t know Wayne – I kind of enjoy a certain anonymity. Better said perhaps I am afraid that coming out from behind the screen will be a disappointment?

I wonder if there aren’t some who will speak out candidly about having been disappointed by a face to face encounter?

At this point I am so very fond of so many of the Latin Topic Bloggers. Beyond our common thread it seems that our lives are so very different. I have met but a few and truly never been disappointed and yet…

Just thinking in trepidation out loud here.

Wayne,
I've enjoyed reading your blog, and your blog entries of the last two meetings. It's nice to know about other blogs out there. I've read some of the other blogs from some of the other people that attended the first two meetings. There blogs like yours were friendly, informative and had pictures, but as the time went there blog entries got fewer and fewer. I don't understand why they still even have a blog site.
I hope you have another meeting and have a great turn out, but from the entries on the others blogs I'm guessing this years meeting is not going to be as grand.

Oh Wayne .. if only it were held around the middle of Oct. while I'm in Cancun. I could meet all the bloggers that I love so darn much. I so enjoy my daily reading.

Sounds like a great idea to have another bloggers' meeting. It was fun to meet the other writers, and the list has expanded since then. I too have made some good friends through this link and would enjoy getting together in a new location.

TO the person who posted about the diminishing blogs: I think it is safe to say we all put plenty of time and thought into our writing, and can't always write daily. Also I know some have questioned the validity of their daily rants...and I, for one, get confused about what to write about! There is so much life all around us.

IslaGringo is particularly good about consistent writing, and hats off to you!!, but I go through phases of doing things and then phases of writing about them...

I like the blogger meets. The hardest part is finding speakers and a place to meet. The rest is social stuff. I suggest that it only be one day this time, but that day be Saturday. I wouldn't mind seeing Guadalajara or San Miguel or Mazatlan either.
Sometimes I blog, sometimes I live life. I don't live to blog.
regards,
Theresa

Hi there,

We've been busy with houseguests and travel so I haven't chimed in... I would love to have everyone here to Mazatlán, but April won't work for me this year... I am visiting for a week in the US, and we are expecting family for part of the month...

But the last meet up was awesome and I loved meeting everyone. If it gets put together we will surely do our best to come!
