Improved Drainage

Part of the reasoning behind tearing up Avenue Hidalgo downtown was to improve the drainage of this street during big rain storms.

As you can see, the months of having to endure the street torn up was well worth the wait. It is so much better now.

Maybe I should open a boat rental or snorkel shop on Hidalgo?!

And I have the stinky sandals to prove it! Getting around El Centro the week before Ida was a real test. And I loved it when they dug up the end of Hidalgo down past Fredy's after the storm. Like that was the only bad area! HA!

Are you sure this isn't a BEFORE improvement picture? :) :)

Wow! But yet another reason to scratch Isla Mujeres off my list of places to go, things to do!

Thanks for the insight into all of Isla's negatives and apparent endless problems. You blog stuff that the local newspapers and tourist bureau just seem to ignore!

Keep up the good work.

LOL I take it your tongue was firmly planted in your cheek. I am not seeing much difference.

Reminds me of when ever HR would improve our benefits package at work. Some one benefits but not us!

Doug: I can think of better shops for you to open!

Beck: I walked past that spot today. They are still trying to get paver stones to fit!

KfromMichigan: I deeply resent the insuation you are making here. Do you seriously think I would make this stuff up or try to fool my readers??? See the comment by Lifes a Beach just before yours.

Mikey: ok, I think you better get your butt over here and see the Isla for yourself. It really is a beautiful place to visit. Living here can be a trial at times, but it is worth the visit.

anonymous: yup, that tongue hits my cheek alot!

Theresa: that is so true.

O Robert: by the time I got around to taking this picture, the water had receded quite a bit. It did look like Venice in places.

Leo: no! don't say that! the perimeter road around downtown is dug up now and I don't think people can take much more.

carl/debbie: now there's a scary thought!

Please don't be mad at me .. I was only joking! Sorry! I know you would never fool your readers.

Just like government improvements everywhere - so few people benefit and rarely is it the people that pay. The positive is that for months some people had paying jobs. ~E~

K: I'm not mad at you. Don't fret it.

E: true, but none, or hardly any, of the people were locals. They brought in construction crews to do the work.
