North Beach Now

I've gotten a few requests for updated pictures of North Beach. So here we go.

Approaching the beach from street in front of Maria del Mar.

Looking to your right.

And to the left.

The area right behind the above picture.

I'm not going to say much. I don't like this beach very much anymore. It is way too crowded with beds, chairs and umbrellas for my taste. There is hardly any sand left to lay a blanket down. And, since this is now a beach concession area leased by Maria del Mar, they yell at you for trespassing if you try to lie in the sand by those stupid beds. Just ignore them. I do.

It appears Eden is turning into Los Angeles.

Love the beach (with NO people). I just returned from spending 18 days in Cancun. So sorry I didn't make it to Isla. Maybe next year!

I don't like all the bedsthey put up around MdM, but that is the part of the beach we usually head to since it's close to where we stay. We don't ususally rent chairs 7 haven't been hassled in the past--maybe with fewer tourists they are getting more aggressive.

Steve: more like Miami.

K: I already told you what I think about that!

Jamqueen: they are hit and miss about telling you to move on. They do NOT own the beach. They only have the right to rent equipment on it. It is still free sand to everybody.

We walked down past Maria del Mar and NaBalam this morning to the Avalon Cove. It was hard to get past the NaBalam area because the beds were right out at the shore break. I had the guy at Maria del Mar plop chairs on top of me several years ago when I was sitting in the sand. He wasn't putting them there for anyone -- he was just forcing me out. In my mind, treating people like that isn't good for a long term reputation. It left me with a non-fuzzy feeling!
