Carnival on Isla

Two weeks before the Independence Day celebration here on Isla, a carnival came to town. Strangely, it was only here one week. Then it packed up and moved on one week before the actual celebration. Maybe some other town offered them more money or something. Too bad really. They even had salchipapas!

It was really overcast and getting late in the day when I took these pictures. But if you really want to see some good pictures of a carnival in Mexico, click on over to Billie's blog when you finish here.

I love the merry-go-round animals.

The Tilt-a-Whirl is bright, to say the least. All that shiny metal.

I'm scared to death to get on rides her NOB at the fairs after standing near one that one of the parts flew off of. Wouldn't even think of it in Mexico.
Great pictures. Lots of color.

GREAT photos! I love the last one of the metallic tilt-a-whirl. GREAT.........
I have fond memories of carnivals as a child. I don't think I've been to one since my kids were little......Need to do that!

For some reason, the Tilt-A-Whirl is the one carnival ride I can still get on without puking. It makes me laugh maniacally the entire ride, though, so just a warning in case we ever go on it together.

Beautiful pics! I haven't been to a carnival here in the U.S. forever, but the colors, shapes, and figurines on the rides look a lot cooler than anything I've seen in the U.S.!

Wayne -- Great carnival photos. I almost feel as if I am, in a Fellini flm.

First off, anybody else HATE what Blogger is doing with the Comments page? We need to gang up on them to put it back like it was! So...

kw: I would only ride the merry-go-round for blogging purposes. Right!

trixie: I once made an agreement with a friend of mine to ride the ferris wheel if she went on the tilt-a-whirl with me at a rundown, shabby county fair. While we were standing in line for the wheel, a large bolt landed right at my feet! I picked it up and gave it to the ticket taker as we were getting on. It wasn't until we were at the very top that it dawned on us that the bold came off the ride we on! Talk about an adrenaline rush!

babs: I love carnevals, the shabbier the better! Count me in!

Heather: I'll be right beside you, Chesire Cat grin on my face and leaning with you to get it to really spin!

beck: I really like the non-tradional charactors too.

Steve: you will really feel that way every day once you move down here!

Nice pictures, love the heads from the merry-go-round.

What has blogger done with the comments? Am I missing something? I did notice that you changed the pic on your blog, gorgeous!

What colorful photos. I had seen a few over on Michele's blog and wondered if you would post some photos. Thanks for posting them.
