On my way to the market yesterday, I saw this car parked. There was nothing on it to identify the maker. I have never seen anything like this. I thought it was really cute and very practical for the island. I can't imagine driving it anywhere else though. Does anybody know what it is or anything about it???
Later edited note: I just The DaVinci Code. This is the same kind of car they make their escape from the museum in!

I got an email from a friend who recognized this. Here is what he had to say:
It's a Smart car...I love them.I see them all over in Holland and Belgium. Many being used by businesses in courier-like services.I have a few photos of them with some awesome graphic logos/decals and color combinations. Made in Germany - first model (electric, approx 8 years ago) designed by someone at Swatch watch Co and made by Benz. Newer models in gas (and diesel?) made by Benz/Chrysler for European market. They are expected to be imported to the US in a few years. There is a guy here who brought one over approx. 5 years ago....and spent alot of money doing it!
My son in Mexico City has one. Gets 60 mpg and seats two. Zero emissions.
They love it!
This is definatley a smart car. very dangerous on UK roads, (Lorrys have trouble seeing them!) But good to park. I Heard a lorry in Germany drove with one attatched to the front bumper for 25 miles.... funny!
