Garbage Men

"BASURA! BASURA!" is what they shout at your door. Basura being the Spanish word for garbage.

The first year we lived here we found it rather strange that the garbage men would stand by their truck and shout this. Yes, we can see that you have garbage in your truck. Duh. Except that they only do it the week before Christmas. What they are really shouting is, "Get your butt out here and give us a tip or you will get the shittiest garbage collection service you have ever seen in the coming year!"

Needless to say, we run out the door waving money in the air!

Ah, the spirit of Christmas.
